Brian Bertke

Vocals, Tenor/Alto Saxophone & Flute

Brian was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and cut his musical teeth singing the soul, rhythm & blues of Otis Redding, James Brown and Percy Sledge while still in high school.

After a 3 year stint in Vermont studying and doing solo performances he returned to the Cincinnati and Kentucky area to perform in several successful rock, r&b and jazz rock groups before relocating to California.

In Orange County Brian managed a club and was the opening act for many groups including Greg Almann while booking and having the opportunity to meet such luminaries as Chic Corea, Lou Rawls, BB King, & Kenny G. among many others.

Brian has been in the Sacramento region now for over 20 years. During that time he has been a member of several blues & r&b groups including Black Cat Bone, NiteShade and The Buzztones. In 2002 Brian formed the blues & jazz quartet, Fourfront. Fourfront performed on the local television show Good Morning Sacramento while promoting an annual concert for Ovarian Cancer survivors, performed for hundreds at the Zinfandel Wine Festival in San Francisco and at wineries such as Stags Leap in Napa and various restaurants and clubs in the greater Sacramento region.

Realizing a need for musical groups which can perform in various sized venues and cross generational lines, as well as for controlled volume and varying entertainment budgets, Brian sees The Tritones as a more flexible version of Fourfront. He is excited about this group and feels that this is a happy continuation of all he has achieved and experienced in his long and varied musical career.
