Ripley Howe

Bass guitar

A California native, Ripley Howe (Upright Electric and Fender Bass)  has been holding down the bottom in Northern California since the early 1970s.

Playing bands as diverse as The Poppers, the Leslie Riley Band, the Bop-A-Dips and Blues Farm, Ripley counts his versatility among his best assets. He recently spent five years as bassist for the Frankie Lee Band, touring up and down the west coast from Ukiah to Ensenada.

Now a resident of the small town of Somerset in the Sierra Foothills, Ripley counts as his greatest influence the legendary Motown bassist James Jamerson, as well as session players Chuck Rainey and Pino Palladino.

His favorite motto?

"You just can't lose with that rhythm and blues!"
